I have been using the Alpha-Stim for one month, and it has greatly improved my health. I am using this product to help with depression, anxiety and insomnia. I am 55 years old, and work as a computer professional in a demanding role.

I am a 53-year old man with a history of anxiety and depression that I can trace back to being five years of age.

I have sought relief through treatment with psychiatrists and psychologists for the past fifteen years. I have been prescribed SSRI's, MAOI's, and tricyclics, all to no avail. My wife asked me to write a little note about my use of the Alpha-Stim.

I am in my mid forties and for 2 years ago I have been battling a muscle spasm condition in my back. Drugs did not help or the ones that did just knocked me flat out, doctor after doctor could not figure it out. Nothing helped. I could only sleep 3 hours at a time waking up twisted like a pretzel, could not sit on most restaurant chairs, bought a new expensive car with a seat I could manage to stay on for 30 minutes, could not fly on airplanes, could no longer scuba dive (my favorite sport) etc…Hell.

I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury in "98". I am what is considered a higher functioning TBI person. I guess it’s because I don't have the noticeable physical signs of my injury. But I do suffer headaches 24/7. On a scale from 1-10 my normal day is a 3-4. If I stress out, well 1,000,000 is what it feels like. I am in hopes that I can stop taking the two different meds for my headaches twice a day everyday as I do now.

But the personality impairments, such as mood, sleep, anxiety, depression -- well in a nut shell, psychological symptoms play a prominent role in the headaches, I believe. So in the use, I have found relief in the Alpha-Stim.

I first used one at the VA Hospital in Tuskegee Alabama, under the supervision of Dr. William Booth, Spinal Injury Clinic, on an outpatient setting. I am a 68-year-old very active woman. We live in northern Minnesota and we burn wood for heating all winter. My husband is 71 and unable to help much, so it's just my job. Last fall we had a gentleman come in with his cutter splitter and cut up and split 21 cords of firewood for us. Then I began hauling it into our shed to store for the winter. Some I hauled into our basement and piled for winter use.

My sciatic nerve in my left hip and leg began to cause pain. I CANNOT TAKE PAINKILLER MEDICINE AS IT MAKES ME SICK AND I VOMIT. I suffered day and night. I also have a great deal of arthritis in my back and hip. This past Christmas Eve we had dinner at a friends home and at the last minute one of the guests could not attend due to a crushing Migraine headache. She was missed but at yet another party on Jan 1st. Gayle was in attendance. I expressed empathy to Gayle for her Christmas Eve headache, and she explained that only in the last day or so, she was beginning to feel good. I told her that over the years I too have suffered from these headaches, but not on a regular basis. The last Migraine I had was over 3 years ago. My particular version of Migraine has traditionally started with a substantial loss of vision. It is a sensation so scary that words can’t explain. After about 30 minutes of vision distortion, the pain begins to kick in. Pain of excruciating nature. Nausea, drooling, and parts of my body going completely numb and ice cold are the next sensations in the experience of this catastrophic headache. When the headache would end, there would be a few days of lingering pain and nausea. Decades ago I tried taking the medication called Percodan which is a strong pain killer. It did nothing whatsoever for the pain and that goes for taking 2 pills!

I originally purchased my Alpha Stim 100 as a tool that might help me heal from a very deep anxiety condition that I've had since my early 20's. Tonya, I spoke with you on the phone last Friday about the use of these devices for soldiers in theater. I ended up ordering an Alpha-Stim SCS from Austin Biofeedback Center in Austin, TX on Friday, September 14th for my son, Gerald “Jason” Ellis who is currently serving in a rapid deployment unit with the Army 3rd ID in Iraq. Thank you for asking how he is doing. As far as I know, Jason is doing fine. He did receive the Alpha-Stim and has been using it as often as he can. At the time I sent the Alpha-Stim to him I was getting very worried about his mental health due to the tremendous amount of stress he was struggling to cope with on a never ending basis. Within one week of using the Alpha-Stim I could tell a difference in his tone of voice and attitude. His sense of humor began to return and he was once again beginning to dream about his future rather than dwell on the harsh reality of a fatigued soldier in combat. Since then, he has had the experience of having to live without it for approximately 2 weeks under stressful conditions and I could hear his anxiety levels increasing significantly during that time. I’m hoping by now he has been able to hook up and dump some of the anxiety that seems to be on overflow, but I haven’t heard from him yet.

The best assistance you could provide would be to convince the military to embrace this type of therapy for every soldier living in a war zone. Beginning with the combat units living in the neighborhoods of Baghdad as these soldiers are being challenged in ways the military has never challenged our brave soldiers before. In February 2006, I was diagnosed with a peripheral nerve neuropathy disease called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), and Guillian-Barre Syndrome (GBS) an autoimmune disease that affects peripheral nerves. I suffer from a residual neurological deficit that causes paresthesia and pain in most of my joints. I have double vision, extreme fatigue, tingling in my hands and feet, slurred speech caused by facial paralysis, stiffness and pain in my upper and lower back makes it difficult to walk.

I was lucky in finding out about CES and the ALPHA-STIM 100. I do my daily physical therapy routine using body training machines at a local Gold’s Gym. A professional body builder was using the ALPHA- STIM 100 for muscle pain. I was curious about the probes and ear clips connected to this small square white box. Learning about CES via the Internet I have found vast amount of research from Europe and the United States and have read about how CES has helped so many people with pain and other medical problems.

I am Linda Woodruff and I live in White Plains, NY. I am 60 years old and I can not remember any time in my life (even as far back as 5 years old) when that dark heavy cloud did not follow me around. Of course, that many years ago, few people had a name for this feeling and if they did, it was spoken of in "hushed voices" or gossip.

I have been to many doctors...psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and all of them came up with the same general consensus: "We can find no reason for your depression. Just keep trying antidepressants until you find one that helps". So I have all these years....all kinds and doses and combinations. Prozac was like drinking a glass of water, Elavil made me gain a lot of weight. Effexor and Welbutrin caused horrific nightmares. I thought I was losing my mind. Everything I tried had some side effects that just added to the problem. The only real advantage I could ever see was that they kept me from crying uncontrollably, but they never kept me from WANTING to.

Earlier this year, all the classic symptoms became more severe than ever and it frightened me because I started to feel desperate to find some relief. I began to think "I cannot live the rest of my life like this...SOMETHING has to change", and I even began to abuse alcohol because it made me feel "numb'. I was just existing and all I wanted to do was go to bed, pull the covers over my head and disappear.

I began surfing the Internet for research or new treatments other than drugs. I read the book SHOCK by Kitty Dukakis about her depression and the Electroconvulsive Therapy that saved her life. I read the book OUT OF THE BLACK HOLE by Charles E. Donovan III, telling how Vagus Nerve Stimulation Therapy saved his life. There was so much information it was overwhelming and I became very confused and agitated.

I starting having panic attacks and anxiety a few months ago and it was the scariest time of my life. I wanted a safe long term treatment option and I spent many weeks researching the best course of action. After I analyzed the benefits and risks of medication or electro cranial therapy stimulation, the choice was a no-brainer. For years I suffered from insomnia and anxiety; I was put on Paxil & Trazadone to treat it but hated the constant side effects. I am a 67 year old female that was born with a hemangioma on the bottom of my left foot. I want to tell you about my experience with the Alpha-Stim unit.

I had experienced swelling and pain with my foot until 1984 when I had my foot amputated at the ankle. I was never able to get a prostheses to fit properly because of the ankle bones. I had "real pain" and "phantom pain". My real pain felt like a bolt of lightening which lasted from 1-2 hours to 3 days. I have taken pain medicine and used the TENS unit with some degree of relief.

in May of this year, I had a BK amputation to try to control the pain and hopefully get a better fit on my prosthesis. The real pain was relieved some, but not the phantom pain. In July, Dr. Gould, my chiropractor, asked if I would like to try a unit he had been introduced to. I was rather reluctant to try, but thought it might help. I went to his office twice. Since I could not feel anything when I was using the unit, I felt it wasn't doing anything. Dr Gould suggested that I come to his office when I was having the lightening bold pain to see if I could tell a difference in the pain level. I had a sharp pain, then after about 5 seconds I had another pain, however, this pain fizzled out and did not continue!!! I was very surprised and felt like something had really happened. Dr. Gould suggested I continue using the unit which I did six more times. I still experienced some pain, but it was much milder. To my surprise, I no longer had any phantom pain and the really pain can be controlled with a 20-30 minute session using the unit. I only have the sharp pain after being on my feet for long periods of time.

I now have a personal unit I can use whenever I feel the need. I also use my unit on my shoulder and neck. I am so pleased with my unit I tell anyone with pain about it. I only hope they contact a doctor who will help them as I have been helped.

I am a 43 year old female who has been suffering from depression for the 1st time in my life. The depression started a couple of years ago and then triggered panic attacks which I thought I had cured myself of 17 years previously. When I was in my mid thirties and going through a divorce, I was told that I had dysthymia, or chronic low-grade depression. I went to counseling and started taking Paxil. Next I sought out complementary medicine and began Reiki, aromatherapy, Bach Flower remedies in conjunction with medication. Over the course of the next ten years, I switched medications and doses, tried acupuncture and reflexology, and told I was bipolar 3.

All of the medications I tried were somewhat effective, but not completely. I still never felt quite "normal". I would like to report the preliminary observations of usage of the Alpha-Stim for treatment of my diverticulitis.

Two days ago, I had an acute attack of diverticulitis and normally this would have to be treated with rest and possibly antibiotics. Instead, I used the Alpha-Stim at a slightly higher level than is used for relaxation. The result: All of the symptoms have rapidly subsided. I believe that the use of the Alpha-Stim will allow me to naturally heal this condition over time, or at the minimum, delay the need for surgery until better technology exists.

An interesting side effect of the Alpha-Stim has been the reduction of Tinnutis. I have read studies of a TENS unit being applied to the ear to reduce tinnutis, but as a natural side effect of using the Alpha-Stim, my condition has been greatly reduced. I began symptoms of tinnitus after a high dosage of antibiotics was needed to cure my last diverticulitis attack and presumably this caused lateral otis toxicity. Although not eliminated, the symptoms are greatly reduced within an hour of application of the Alpha-Stim.

I've suffered from clinical depression since I was in my early teens (enough to be hospitalized) and I've tried nearly everything; Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Sam-e, St. John's Wort, dietary changes, exercise, etc. etc. Out of desperation, I went for a free trial of a device called "the Alpha-stim SCS" after reading an article about it in a local health journal.It's been two weeks now (real relief of depression isn't anticipated for three weeks)and I haven't had a suicidal thought for ten days! This is a real accomplishment for me. It's helping with my concentration and 'brain fog", and relieving some of the pain of my Fibromyalgia. What is the Alpha-Stim SCS? It's an electrotherapy device that alters brain waves-normalizing them the way advanced meditation techniques can. It's like shock therapy-but painless and much more effective. I was skeptical at first and was worried about experiencing a placebo effect, so I asked a physicist I know to review the technology first (he has about 20 patents under his belt and helped design the CAT scan). Here is what he wrote to me regarding the Alpha-Stim SCS:

Regarding the technology and science you asked me about: I spent several hours researching both tonight. Here's what I think from the information available and what I already know:

The existence of the human (and all other) bioelectromagnetc fields is incontrovertible. Their ability to be modified by electromagnetic fields and electric currents is likewise incontrovertible. Well known, all proven. It's also why meditative techniques, martial arts "katas", and similar have such profound effects on well-being. It's very sound science that finding the right signal can stimulate or alleviate so many different things.

I have looked at the electrophysics described in various reports and find that the causal introduction of periodic micro-currents work the same way as what is known from the sensing mechanisms of EEG and other measurement protocols. In other words -- the physics makes sense too.

Electrical stimulation of endorphin production and modification of neural mechanisms relate directly to similarly known effects of deep meditation, acupuncture, acupressure, and myofascial balancing.

I also looked at the reports from the FDA, American Journal of Pain Management, Peer-Reviewed studies cited in both, and clinical endorsements of the actual technology and commercially available devices. These are very significant and I think scientifically sound reports and the technology employed in the product (Alpha-stim SCS) is specified in use. I also looked at the math cited in the clinical studies supporting the technology and reported results (generally very significantly good). I won't bore you with the math but the documented statistical trend toward clinically proven relief of various conditions seems quite impressive, especially in blind-blind studies over the last 10 years or so.

It is interesting to note that (from several reports):

Fibromyalgia patients showed 36-52% moderate to marked improvement

Myofascial showed 29-61%

Anxiety and depression showed 32-65%

CFS patients showed 60-80% fair to moderate improvement. Also the double-blind reports on significantly improved sleep cycles and reduced pain as well as re-established cognitive advantages (sharper, clearer).

What do I think -- I wouldn't hesitate to believe that the technology has the effects and uses as advertised, it's just like many "alternative-medicine" treatments except that this DOES have major well known medical organizations using and reporting it works (like the Cleveland Clinic, other hospitals, and many Pro sports teams, etc). Remember what Dave says: If it works, it's NOT "alternative medicine"

Anyway-that's a professionals take on it. But Google it for yourselves and do some research of your own. It's by prescription only, and you can always return the device if you don't feel that it's helping you (unlike Prozac). The device costs about $500-some of the best money I've spent, IMO. It's also very effective for those suffering from bi-polar disorder and panic attacks.

Today is my 18th day using my Alpha-Stim. After two long years of panic attacks, anxiety and depression I can honestly say I am 100% BETTER!!!!!!!!! I was having at least two panic attacks daily.....NO MORE......The Alpha-Stim totally relaxes me and doesn't let the panic attack take hold.

The Alpha-Stim has been wonderful and I feel great every day now. It has been a "lifesaver"!

Here is my story... Last month (Jan 2007) I went in search of a "natural" way to cure my depression, anxiety and sleep disturbances. (Previous to my search I had made an appointment with my nurse practitioner who was going to put me on Effexor- a very powerful AD drug -- she said I needed "a stick of dynamite” -- if that says anything about the state I was in) and she told me I would have to be on it the rest of my life. Well, needless to say, I will never forget that, and I didn't sit with me very well. I did fill the script, but was really reluctant to take the first pill. (Also, I had been on Zoloft in the past and stop using it because of the side effects). I am a person who really doesn't like side effects even if I know they will go away.

Before I put one pill in my mouth (I looked at the bottle for about 3 days), I wanted to make sure Effexor was for me (even though it was prescribed I still wanted to make sure this was the way to go). Well, after looking at various depression drug sites and hitting a site called "crazymeds.org" and reading the "cons" of this drug I was pretty sure I needed to find another way to cure my depression. On that site it had a link to "cure depression naturally" so I hit and "wah la" I was sent to the Alpha-Stim solution. I was so excited and read every detail of how it worked, and watched all the testimonials from the news clips and read other peoples stories. I shared this with my husband who is a RN and he said "go for it" and with a 30 day back guarantee -- why not. Then I called my nurse practitioner and she wrote me a script. The Alpha-Stim arrived 1 week later.

I have had it now for over 30 days. I started on the 0-1 level for a couple of weeks using it daily and wanted to work my way to the recommended level of 2 (like I said I am pretty sensitive). I did have one day that I started at a level too high and it made me nauseous but went away quickly like the directions said after turning it back down. The great fact is that "I am in control" of the level I want and the results I want. That is the best aspect of this way of treatment. Well, I am now at 2-3 level and use it every day or other day. (Also, you can feel results quicker if you can get to a level of 1 or more sooner like it is directed, it just will depend on you). Anyway, I feel 99% better than I did 30 days ago, depression, anxiety is gone and I am sleeping much better. Best of all NO SIDE EFFECTS!! (My son has ADD ADHD and I plan on starting him on it soon too.)

Also, my nurse practitioner called me a week ago to see how I was doing and said she is now going to get one for her practice.

Again, I am very thankful for the Alpha-Stim and highly recommend this as a truly effective treatment for depression, anxiety and insomnia. In my opinion, it is a much more logical and natural way than synthetic drugs that just "band-aid and effect your entire body " instead of correcting and adjusting the only source--your-head!!".

I am a 36 year old male who has been suffering with anxiety probably since I was a child after witnessing the break up of my parents, and the effect this had on my mother. This anxiety intensified in my twenties probably brought on by the death of my father, who I totally idolized.

In my later twenties I suffered an illness for about 18 months which I thought I would not recover from which at times made me want to die, which only made my anxiety worse, and even after I recovered it was like I lived in a perpetual state of fear, wondering when the ground was going to open up again.

It has affected my work and personal life, and at times totally debilitated me.

I personally think my anxiety problem is partly genetic but has also been brought about by life events that I have not reacted to very well and don't feel I've been able to emotionally recover from.

After my mother died suddenly in my early thirties whom I was extremely close to this anxiety turned into a total break down, and if it wasn't for the fact that my partner was due to give birth to our daughter 5 months later, I think I would have chosen a path of gradual personal destruction having no regard or respect for life after what I felt life had done to me.

I have been prescribed four separate anti-depressants which I had to cease taking after suffering adverse side effects (some quite severe) until I finally was prescribed an anti-depressant which did help me a tremendous amount. The trouble was over time I had to reduce the dosage because of the feelings of fatigue I experienced with them and weight gain. This in effect resulted in relapse i.e. feelings of anxiety again and at times deep depression.

I came across Alpha-Stim totally by accident on the internet, and thought it was worth trying out. Worse case scenario I would lose $500, although I was assured there was a 30 day refund policy.

After the first two weeks I was ready to send the Alpha-Stim back. I experienced dizziness, headaches, difficulty sleeping, tiredness throughout the day (none of which I was having before using the machine). I was using the machine for between 20 and 60 minutes a day initially on setting three and then on setting two.

I spoke to Karl at Moeller Medical a number of times who told me if I wanted I could send the machine back and get a refund but persuaded me to try the machine one last time, but this time every other day and reduce the setting to one.

I followed his advice which was nearly three weeks ago now and am dearly glad I did. I am using it more or less every day now for an hour on setting one. I now look forward to getting up in the morning and using it, whereas before the morning was always the worst part of the day for me. I have had no more dizziness or adverse effects apart from a very minor headache initially, on the left hand side of my head, which I put down to the machine stimulating something at that side of my brain.

Something is changing in me and I don't know what or how, and I don't care. All I know is I feel calmer, happier, clearer headed, more focused, positive, looking forward to the future, able to take on new projects I was afraid of doing before, getting on with my partner better, less afraid, having a better insight into things, been able to detach myself from matters that I could not do before.

There's a part of me that does not want any body else knowing about the Alpha-Stim, it's like it's my secret or advantage on the rest of the world but that's selfish. If just one person who is suffering benefits from the Alpha-Stim from reading my testimonial then I will have the pleasure in knowing that I have given a great gift.

I have been experiencing severe lower back pain for almost a year. The pain that I have on a daily basis is typically an 8 or 9 out of 10, and occasionally 10 out of 10. Sometimes I even have trouble getting out of bed in the morning to go to work or even spend time with my wife. Over the course of the last year, I have been prescribed many pain medications, including MS Contin(30 and 60 mg tabs 3x daily) MSIR 30mg, Gabapentin 300mg, Elavil, Mobic, Valium, Tylenol, Percoset, Naproxsyn, and Vicodin. My quality of life has been affected in many ways. I also have to take Ambien to help get to sleep due to the pain. When Dr. Kirsch gave a lecture at my clinic at Ft Sam Houston, he utilized me for a demonstration for the health care providers present. After a small amount of treatment, both cranial and local, I was virtually pain free for about an hour. After more of these treatments, the effects being cumulative, my pain is begining to subside more and more. I personally plan to utilize the Alpha-Stim product as often as possible.

Just a few words of sincere praise about the Alpha-Stim.

Positive energy! Lots of electrically charged positive energy! That's all I see, lately! All because of this little gadget.

I practice TM and yoga, and continue to do so. But the Alpha-Stim creates an amazingly simlar magnetically charged ambience, and in many ways, is a more neutral approach to inner clarity, relaxation, heightened awareness, etc. It's also great if you're trying to learn a new language.

It has also been very helpful in decreasing my cravings for cigarettes.

I have had a severe sleeping disorder ever since serving as a Marine in Viet Nam. Additionally, as a result of my "experiences" there, I also suffer from anxiety attacks and other "conditions."

I have been dealing/coping/enduring these and other issues for over 38 plus years.I would experience severe sleeping disorder bouts at least 2-3 times a year. I finally sought help and have been on many different medications for the past 14 years.

However,in the past, when I could not fall asleep at night I almost always fell asleep out of sheer exhaustion about the time I was supposed to get up and go to work.

This past May (2006), I began what would eventually be a 6 week bout without being able to fall asleep at night. However, for the first time, I did not/could not fall asleep as I had been able to do in the past. I gave up and tried to take a nap later in the day and still could not fall asleep. That night, and for what would go on for the next 6 weeks, I could not sleep at all!

After the better part of a week, I finally called my Psychiatrist and he "upped" the dosages on my medication. When that didn't work we changed medications.This went on for weeks and nothing was working! I flat out could not sleep!

Days had now turned into weeks. I was now psyched out, I could not think straight, and I had become desperate. Every day and every night was an eternity. I was exhausted, suffering, my mind was not thinking rationally, and I started feeling hopeless and was now feeling depressed. I did not know what was happening to me. I had never felt this "bad" or this "way" before. I was in such bad shape mentally that I actually started thinking of taking my own life, anything but this pain and mental anguish I was experiencing.

My Psychiatrist finally put me on 30 milligrams of Valium, 100 milligrams of Seroquel, 600 milligrams of Lithium, and a "new" Patch for Depression (Selegiline transdermal System). He also told me that I had slipped into "deep clinical melancholy Depression." There was nothing more he could do for me medicinally and based on my "condition," he recommended Electro Convulsion Therapy. These new medications "knocked me out," and I started getting sleep, but I was in the throes of deep depression. Although desperate, ECT still sounded very radical.

My Sister had been scouring the internet for anything related to Depression and came upon your site. I called "Karl," got my Psychiatrist to prescribe Alpha Stim and ordered it. It didn't happen overnight, but after about 3 weeks I started making "baby steps" out of my depression. I have used it every other day since then, and came out of depression in late August. As a precautionary measure, even though I thought I was almost back to "normal," my Psychiatrist still has me on the same medication.

I believe Alpha Stim made a significant difference in my recovery and highly recommend it to anyone with sleeping problems, anxiety attacks, and depression.
